A gathering place for readers, writers, and other advocates for a more just world

“For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go.” (Psalm 91:11)

I don’t know that angels befriend us and become our guides to reliving certain crossroads in our lives or to looking into possible futures, but that is what Zachri, a spirit guide for my comatose protagonist does. Read on:

Zachri moved closer so his eyes were on the same level as Kirk’s. “Kirk, don’t I look the least bit familiar to you? “
“Well, there is a somewhat unnerving familiarity in your eyes. Yet I’m not afraid of you…I feel like somewhere in the recesses of my mind I can recall an experience—but the image just won’t make itself visible. It’s more like a feeling or an impression, one that has benign undertones. Won’t you give me clues to what I know about you that lurks just below my consciousness? Your appearance is similar to people in my own extended family, blue-eyed, light skinned with light-colored hair; you even seem to be about my height and build, yet there is something about you that marks you as other than European. The best word I can come up with is ethereal. I’ve never met a person who exudes such a disconcerting mixture of power and humility, of strength and tenderness. Please tell me who or what you are!”

“I am a messenger, and I am here to answer a specific prayer for your healing. You see me in a familiar form so you can relate to me; if I came in my true form you would know of my presence but the sensing without seeing would terrorize you.”

What do readers believe about angelic intercession? Will you share personal experiences here?

Comments on: "Do Angels Intercede?" (3)

    Hi Joyce,

Thanks for the opportunity on giving you briefly a scriptural view on angelic beings. There are many testimonials of angelic encounters, & a deluge of material written about angelology, both biblical and non-biblical. The Word of God is replete of stories of their existence, and their ministry in the lives of God’s people. I was praying on whether I’ll respond to your inquiry and if I will what would the Holy Spirit want me to address? The following came up in a nutshell:

The Bible lists 8 major levels among angels, both angels of God and fallen angels. These apparently are governmental levels, which show organization and rank. They are thrones, dominions, principalities, authorities, powers, world rulers, wicked spirits and archangels (Ro. 8:38; I Cor. 15:24; Eph. 1:21; 3:10; 6:12; Col 1:16; 2:10,15).

The Bible also gives us names of special classes of beings. They have certain characteristics, duties and separate from ‘ordinary angels.’ They are Cherubims, Seraphims, and Living Creatures. (Ezek. 1: 5,14; 28:12-14; Ex. 37:9; Gen. 3:24; Is. 6:2; Ezek. 1:24.)

Since question at hand is about angels, let’s focus on them. Angels in general apparently the lowest ranking in the heavenly hierarchy – are messengers. As we saw from Biblical examples:

    • They deliver messages and deliver people from danger when God ordains it.

    • They protect and defend God’s people, even helping to fight battles when it is within His will.

    • They minister to God’s people in various ways. They reveal, guide, protect, deliver, strengthen, encourage, and assist in answering prayers and attending the righteous dead.

Other angels are also identified by the services they carry out.

    They are:

    1. Angels of judgment (Gen. 19:13; Sam. 24:16; 2 Kings 19:35;

    Ezek. 9:1; Ps 78:49)

    2. Angels designated as ‘watchers.’ Dan. 4:13, 23

    3. Angels of the abyss. Rev, 9:11

    4. Angels over fire. Rev 14:18

    5. Angels of the waters. Rev. 16:5

Angels are creation of God, and under the discretion of the Holy Spirit they help us carry out our assignments as believers of our Lord Jesus Christ. There are many things angels cannot do. Perhaps in your personal study you can find out what they are.

How does one test an angel? By seeing …

    1. If his visit matches those in the Bible

    2. If his words line up with the Bible and

    3. If the purpose which his visit achieves is Biblical.

However, not all angels are on God’ s side, nor do all angels have good intentions toward mankind. There is another realm of angels to be considered before we can get a complete picture of these beings. This realm is the dark kingdom of Satan.

Believers must not, and nonbelievers should not, accept anything supernatural without testing its source. Paul said to ‘prove all things’ and to ‘ hold fast that which is good.’ I Thes. 5:21.

John wrote: Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 1 John 4:1.

Angels are not mysterious created beings. But in our fascination regarding their work and existence, let’s humbly pray as Women of God, that we will not get sidetracked and lose our own fascination and adoration towards our loving Heavenly Father, who is the Creator of all beings and the giver of good gifts.

Congratulations! You’re a gifted and prolific writer. God bless, Joyce
Smile, love, & celebrate your life everyday!

  2. Thank you for visiting all the way from India!

  3. That is really wonderful. Though they may not be visible, surely the Word of God is true, He will protect His children from every possible danger
